The Porsche Boxster debuted in early 1997 after several years of concept development. Serving as the German automaker's contender in the roadster market, this two-passenger rear-drive Boxster convertible with styling reminiscent to the original 1950s Porsche 356 drew plenty of praise when it joined the market. Being one of the first convertible-only concepts since Porsche designed the 914, the new mid-engine Boxster landed on showrooms in mid-1996 and become Porsche's best seller for the next 7 years, only being outsold by their Cayenne SUV introduced in 2003. These ultra-sporty platforms are a true delight to drive!
The first generation of Porsche Boxster's were produced from 1996 until 2004. New designs included a hidden cell phone antenna and a gauge cluster layout based on the 911's. Featuring an ample 9.1 cubic feet of cargo space, improved interior lighting, a higher quality dashboard material, and body-hugging bucket seats with power recliners, Porsche was fine tuning the Boxster through the first years. The sporty mid-engine layout provides a low center of gravity, a near-perfect weight distribution, and ideal handling in all driving situations.
Offered here is a wonderfully cared for 2001 Porsche Boxster finished in the upgraded color option of Lapis Blue Metallic with a Metropol Blue top and a Savanna Beige Partial Leather interior. This roadster is fitted with a water-cooled 2.7L Flat six-cylinder dual overhead cam engine that produces 217 horsepower and 192 ft lbs. of torque. Featured with a 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission which allows the transmission to function as a normal automatic or be switched to manual mode at the driver's discretion allowing gear changes through steering wheel thumb controls.
This nicely optioned Porsche Boxster includes the Sport Package which adds a wind deflector, cruise control, Hi-Fi sound with AM/FM/CD, and alarm system; along with upgraded 17” Boxster Wheel package with colored wheel crests, and CD storage shelf. Exclusive options include the roll bar painted to match the exterior Lapis Blue Metallic and matching Savanna Beige carpeted floor mats. Standard accessories include power steering, power top, power windows & locks, automatic climate control, illuminated vanity mirrors, ABS 4-wheel 4-piston disc brakes, dual airbags, and fog lamps. Our example has a newer Alpine AM/FM/CD radio installed.
A 2-owner vehicle with detailed service records consistent from the very start. Included is the original window sticker with a MSRP of $51,032, two sets of keys, all original owner's books/manuals, clean CarFax report, a storage charger for the battery, and all tools inside the trunk kit. This Boxster sold new from Braman Motorcars of Palm Beach, FL and was serviced there exclusively. The second owner purchased this Porsche in September 2006 with just 11,761 miles. It remained serviced meticulously at our local Porsche authority, Reid Vann Luxury Imports, or St. Louis Porsche annually with all recommended intervals met. In April 2022, it received new spark plugs, belts, hood struts, brake fluid flush, and a new battery. With only 21,927 miles, this Porsche Boxster has been brilliantly maintained and ready for daily driving or for fun weekend getaways!
