Cosmetically and mechanically restoredto superb standards! Road ready and swim ready! In 1961, anAmerican auto manufacture joined up with a German manufacture tomass produce the first factory built, public dual-purpose vehiclefor land and water use. The company was Amphicar and the Model 770was born. It was a street legal convertible, and a water readyboat all in one! Named for its 7mph top speed on the water and70mph on land; Model 770. Manufactured in small quantities eachyear from 1961 through 1967, only 3,878 were built, of which 3,046were exported to the USA. Production was halted due to new EPA andDOT regulations introduced in 1968. Late production examples weretitled in the year they were first sold & registered, so finding1968 examples is possible. Today, they are now extremely rare andhighly prized collectibles! We are excited to offer thisexceptional 1964 Amphicar Model 770 finished in Regatta Red withRed/White interior and brand new white convertible top. Optionsinclude the original, number's matching Triumph 1147cc OHV 4cylinder engine with single Solex carburetor, 4-speed fullysynchromesh manual transmission, heater with defrost, MotoMetergauges, polished wheel covers, 6.40-13" BF Goodrich Silvertownwhitewall tires, and dual rear propellers! This example comes withonly 7,856 miles on the odometer and has been beautifullymaintained in original condition! This example hails from along-term collection in Del Mar, California before making its wayto Canyon Lake, Texas more recently in 2011. We are confident thisAmphicar is ready for water usage, but has not likely been in thewater very often since new. The hull itself is in great conditionshowing no signs of damage or rust proving it has been dry most ofits life. It has been only cosmetically restored to include newerexterior paint along with all chrome including bumpers, freshweather seals, and interior vinyl floor mat. The interiorupholstery including door panelsare all new, but retains theoriginal sun visors. Upon arrival in Texas, it had new moldingsfor the tail fin, headlights, taillights, hood, & fins replaced,brand new white convertible top & boot cover installed, door handlegaskets, windshield seal, hood weather seal, and ivory bumperinserts. The St. Louis Car Museum contributed a full brake serviceto include brand new brake master cylinder, all wheel cylinders,and relined brake shoes in May 2017. It will come complete withowner's manual, matching spare tire, jack, navigation light bar, 4life jackets, wooden oar, fire extinguisher, hood & trunklock/release key, extra ignition keys, and a parts manual fromGordon Imports, Inc. Service records will date back to 2011, andCalifornia water vessel registration stickers back to 2001.
