We are proud to be adding this gorgeous, one-owner XKE 2+2 Coupe, finished in all original Black paint and Tan Leather interior toour line-up of Jaguars! This classic Jaguar has only 41,000original miles on the odometer, and is wonderfully equipped with anautomatic transmission, working air conditioning, all number'smatching drive train, dual sport mirrors, AM/FM/8-track radio, andmore! Notably, the vehicle has always been properly serviced, garage kept, and lovingly maintained since day one. A trulyremarkable find for anyone looking to add to their collection!
The Jaguar XKE was already one of the most beautiful and strikingcars ever created but, like its XK predecessor, the vehicle couldonly accommodate 2 passengers at a time. Back at the drawing board,Jaguar engineers designed a new 2+2 coupe, which quickly became athird choice for buyers on dealer showrooms by 1966! With aredefined roof-line that was now 2" higher, a 9" longer body, amore upright front windshield, along with, the option for anautomatic transmission, all changes made the 2+2 quite roomy, morepractical, and very desirable for sports car minded buyers wantingroom for a family!
For Sale at the St. Louis Car Museum is a superbly survived 1967Jaguar XKE Series I 2+2 Coupe that is beautifully finished in itsoriginal, factory applied color of Black over an all original Tanleather interior! This classic Jaguar is powered by its original4.2L Inline 6-cylinder DOHC engine with a triple SU carburetion andBorg Warner automatic transmission (Never being modified in anyway!) Additional options include air conditioning; chrome 72-spokewire spoke wheels, Michelin X Radial 185-15 tires, dualTalbot-style racing mirrors on the bonnet, AM/FM/8-Track Stereoradio, wood steering wheel, leather-wrapped shifter housing, original 1966 date-coded Hickok/Jaguar front seatbelts, fold downrear seat, optional rear window defogger, hazard light switch, upgraded front and rear bumper guards, and front license platebracket.
The Series I Jaguar E-Type offers many characteristics that appealto Jaguar collectors and enthusiasts alike. These include thepopular covered headlamps, classic toggle switches on the dash,push-button starter, small front grill opening, and low back sportseats! The later generation Series I's received power andperformance enhancements that came about in 1965 and carriedthrough 1967. This meant a 20% larger displacement 4.2L engineproviding more torque, and max horsepower at an earlier RPM. Themanual transmissions became fully synchromesh (with automatictransmissions offered in 1966), radiators were given an electriccooling fan, and generators were replaced for alternators utilizingnegative earth charging systems for the first time.
The Jaguar seen here was delivered new on March 24th,1967 and hasnever been restored, bearing only one careful owner ever since! Itretains its original paint, beautiful original leather interior, and all number's matching drive train. The vehicle was purchased byTheodore Gamble for his lovely wife from Dyer Motors Inc. inElmhurst, NY and later driven to their home in St. Louis, MO. Itwould be the first Jaguar she would own, but one of three she wouldcome to collect over the years. The others offered from ourinventory are a 1986 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas and a 1987 XJ-S V12Coupe. This represents a truly unique opportunity to purchase asurvival quality example with just 41,081 original miles! Thisparticular example comes complete with matching spare tire, toolkit, operating handbook, 2+2 supplement manual, warrantycertificate, dealership directory, maintenance/lubrication chart, air conditioning insert, and all original Triplex glass, it shouldmake for a terrific driver investment as well as a certain showstopper for survivor class judging at any JCNA Concours event!
Having been quietly stored for some time in recent years in herheated garage once in our service facility the vehicle was fullyinspected. Our expert maintenance and repair staff elected toreplace the front brake calipers with rebuilt units and turned therotors, installed a new brake master cylinder, booster hoses, andbrake reservoir caps and sensors. All brake fluid was flushed fornew. Additionally, the fuel tank was completely flushed, fittedwith a new fuel screen and fuel filter, while the sending unit andpump were checked for proper performance. Under the bonnet, thisstunning Jaguar received new spark plugs, fresh engine oil/filter,along with, a new drain plug, air filter, auxiliary electric pullerfan to enhance the a/c performance, new battery, ball joint boots, clips, and fresh sway bar bushings. This beautiful Jaguar stillstarts, runs, and drives quite faithfully today! The airconditioning has been properly maintained and continues to performwonderfully. It is now configured for modern R134a refrigerant andblows unbelievably cold!
The bodylines and gaps are tight atop a strong chassis and frame. It is believed the chrome wire wheels were replaced for new Daytonreplacements in the mid-1980's. They continue to appear as new withall four wheels spin-balanced in April 2020. Overall, this 60sJaguar has been very well cared for and always garaged indoors whennot in use. The body tags, engine, head stamp, and frame VIN stampremain original, as well as, untouched. This will make for asplendid addition to any collection, and we recommend actingquickly before this one secures its second owner. Our cars areoffered on multiple forums and will be sold as-is with a cleartitle to the first astute buyer!
