Ford had already been producing pickup trucks since 1925 but it wasn't until 1932 that Ford would set itself apart from the competition. With its new styling, and the ever-growing popularity of its revolutionary V8 engine, Ford began its reputation for building powerful and durable work vehicles. Even during the post-depression era Ford was still producing and selling a good number of these automobiles to the public. Over the years these Ford Model 40 pickups grew famous in the hot rod community becoming highly modified, and enjoyed after countless hours and lots of money going into the custom work they receive.
We are excited to offer this 1934 Ford Model 40 Pickup finished in a bright Red with a two-tone Tan and Beige tweed cloth and vinyl combination interior. This is no ordinary 1934 Ford truck with a massive 460ci big block V8 engine under the hood rated at 365 horsepower and 388 lb. ft. of torque! It is now fitted with an Edelbrock Performer 460 aluminum intake and 600cfm carburetor with finned aluminum “429” embossed valve covers to keep people guessing. All that power is mated to a C6 3-speed automatic transmission and narrowed Ford 9” rear end. This customized Model 40 has been generously outfitted with all the comforts you could hope for while still providing a classic feel and plenty of power. Features include air conditioning, cruise control, bench seating, custom interior, wood inlay dashboard, Classic Instruments gauges, tinted glass with chrome windshield surround, power windows, decorative etched rear window, leather-wrapped banjo steering wheel with tilt column, marbled glass shift knob, Boss audio CD player with Dual brand speakers, front disc brakes, rear third brake light, headlight support bar, chromed stainless steel bumpers, tan bed cover, dual stainless steel exhaust, dual side mounted mirrors, and painted wire spoke wheels with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in the front measuring 185-16” and massive 31x16.50-15” Hoosier tires in the rear.
This Ford Pickup showcases an original, all-steel body and running boards while the fenders are fiberglass, riding on a reinforced original Ford chassis. It has a 4” drop front I-beam axle, Pete & Jake's chrome shocks, 4-bar supports, and 4-bar rear suspension with adjustable coil-over suspension & panhard bar. Showing only 5,297 miles on the odometer which is believed to be since the completion of the build. Since its arrival at our museum, we have rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the starter, harmonic balancer, front suspension leaf spring and U-bolts, air filter, battery, and changed the engine oil & filter. Our example here is a well-built and maintained powerhouse of a truck that is a great sounding driver to be enjoyed not just for its looks! It remains titled on the chassis number with a matching Vehicle Identification tag issued out of California located on driver side door jam. Thank you for your interest and please contact us for further information or stop by our showroom in person.
